Steerprop’s retractable thrusters go beyond industry standards to deliver energy-efficient, reliable propulsion engineered to strict performance and quality criteria. Designed for easy operation and simplified maintenance, they enhance dynamic positioning (DP) capability and overall vessel performance.

Because sealing and locking mechanisms are often weak points in retractable designs, the retractable thruster series is engineered to minimize downtime, maintenance demands and onboard space requirements while maintaining high-performance propulsion and DP capability. A patent-pending seal design actively manages water ingress and enables low-maintenance servicing from inside the vessel during operation, while a floating housing maintains seal performance in demanding conditions and reduces marine growth.

A hydraulic locking and lifting mechanism further improves reliability while addressing deck space constraints. The compact, zero-clearance design fits below the main deck on most vessel types and supports flexible propeller sizing up to 3.2 m to match vessel requirements.
