Steerprop Service
- Maintenance and Service Made Easy
One
of the main targets - when starting the design of
the Steerprop propulsor range
- was to improve servicability and ease of maintenance.
This
has been achieved e.g. by minimizing the total amount
of parts that a unit is assembled from and by using
readily available parts wherever possible.
|
|
Ease of Maintenance
Normal
daily/weekly/monthly maintenance can easily be carried
out by the ships personnel as part of their routine.
As
most parts used in the propulsor are standard of
easily available brands, local service engineers
can be used for fast remedy in case of problems.
|
|
|
Even
if the electronics causes problems, local industry automation
experts can easily be used to solve the problems, without
the need to call a Steerprop proprietory expert to the
scene. If required, a Steerprop engineer can be connected
to the control system by a standard GSM phone to check
the status of the system and make a diagnosis on what
need to be done and how to do it. |
|
|
Service Network
With
only a few Steerprop propulsors in operation there
has, of course, so far not been any large demand on
Steerprop specific service personnel. With new propulsors
taken into service, experienced people from the local
representatives' are trained on site in Finland during
the assembly of these first units.
|
| |
Nevertheless,
Steerprop already has very experienced service
personnel available in Finland, the Netherlands,
Canada, USA and Singapore.
