Special
Requirements
In order to improve the escort capability of
a "standard" stern drive tug design. The main requirement
is stability. A minimum metacentric height of 3
m is recommended. Maximum obtained towline in indirect
arrest is dependent on the positions of the azimuth
propulsor, the tow point and the centre of effort
of the underwater part of the hull. For more information

towing point position as low as possible is advanatgeous
on escort tugs, as the
heeling moment caused by the towline in indirect
mode can be reduced considerably
