The
test nozzle during installation

Free
Running
The increase in maximum efficiency is 10-15%
compared to a 19 A nozzle. However, more
important is the behavior in over-optimal
condition, where the efficiency collapses
at flow separation on the nozzle back. This
is very important for tug boats, where the
propeller has to be designed for maximum
bollard pull and thus operates in over-optimal
conditions in free running.

Azimuth
Propulsor Steering
The propeller is situated in the diffusor
part of the nozzle, comparably far aft.
This enables the nozzle to be installed
close to the pivoting axis of the propulsor,
minimizing steering torque.
