PROPELLER OPTIONS
Ducted
Propellers
Ducted propellers are the natural choice for many
different applications, e.g. tugs, DP-vessels, dredgers
and supply vessels.
The
main benefits that ducted propellers offer are:
-
Unsurpassable bollard pull
- Protection
of the propeller from ropes, cables etc.
- Increased
directional stability of the vessel

Contra-Rotating
Propellers
For vessels where environment and fuel economy at
free running speed is a demand contra-rotating propellers
is the right solution. Also shallow water operations
can benefit from the possibility to use small propeller
diameters on a CRP-unit. Typically CRP are used
e.g. on ferries, river vessels, supply vessels,
cruise-vessels and coastal freighters.
The
main benefits of contra-rotating propellers are:
-
Unsurpassable efficiency
- Good
fuel economy and low emissions
- Low
levels of noise and vibration
- Possibility
to use very small propellers in shallow draft
vessels

Open
Propellers
Many vessels are still preferred to be equipped
with open propellers. Steerprop also offers this
alternative as a simple and straight forward solution.
The
main benefit of open propellers are:
