Steerprop Controls
Simple
and Informative Operator Interface
The
master is controlling the vessel using the control
system. Thus, it is very important that the operator
interface is at the same time informative and easy
to use. The system should also be adaptable to the
operational profile of the vessel.
|
Steerprop
main control is by a single
lever and a follow-up type system
|
The
Steerprop main control system is of follow-up type,
i.e. the propulsor follows the lever commands and through
the lever and indication system the master gets all
the information required to keep the ship under control.
It is important that the propulsor follows the commands
of the operator as steadily and accurately as possible
- like the with the Steerprop control system. |
Steerprop
is using simple to understand
analog dials and indicators
|
For
simplicity and clear information Steerprop use analog
indicators and dials in the control and indication
functions.
|
The indication lamps and push buttons are also made
more indicative than on pure on/off indicators.
They indicate
-
Whether the system is on or off
- Whether
the system is connecting or on its way to the
other operation mode
-
Whether there is a failure or malfunction in the
system
The
indication system functions are described accurately
in the operators manual. The system is also designed
in a way that enables the Steerprop service centre
to help an operator via phone if more specific help
is required.
