New Service Agreement
The Service Agreement was signed by Mr. Leonaard Koornneef, Technical Director of Naproservice Ltda. (right) and Mr. Kai Arvela, Service Manager of Steerprop Ltd.(left)
Steerprop Ltd. and Naproservice Offshore Estaleiros do Brasil Ltda. signed a Service Agreement during Europort 2011 in Rotterdam.
With this signed agreement, Steerprop Ltd. strengthens its service capability of the increasing fleet operating along the South American coastline. Naproservice Ltda. brings its long experience of servicing marine equipment, especially azimuth propulsors, to bear as the service representative for Steerprop Azimuth Propulsors in the Mercosul.
Naproservice Ltda. will also act as an agent for Steerprop spare part sales in the area.

Russian Joint Venture Company
Steerprop Ltd and Marine Propulsion Systems (MPS) have agreed on the establishment of a joint-venture company to improve our presence in Russia. At the first stage the joint-venture company will assemble and test propulsion units in Russia. Plan is to increase the Russian content of the Steerprop products and to provide service in Russia.
Vesa Rautiainen has been appointed as a Sales Manager for Steerprop Ltd. and will later act as General Director of the joint-venture company.

Co-operation Continues
Steerprop Ltd. is pleased to announce the continuation of one its most long-standing contracts with a Chinese shipyard. The new continuation consists of main propulsion packages for a series of 5 platform support vessels.
With this contract added, similar propulsion package has been installed or contracted to almost fifty ships.
The delivery of these main propulsion packages is to start in October 2012.

Steerprop Raffle at Nor-Shipping 2011
At Nor-Shipping 2011, Steerprop Ltd. held a goodwill raffle that one could participate in by dropping a business card into the designated bowl. Steerprop Ltd. would then donate a sum proportional to the amount of enrolled business cards to a cause that helps preserve the Baltic Sea. One participant would be further chosen by Steerprop Ltd. in a blind draw to receive a pair of high quality binoculars.
Steerprop Ltd. extends the warmest thanks to everyone who participated in the raffle. With your help 487€ was towards preserving the Baltic Sea. The funds were donated in full to the Operation Mermaid of WWF.
The lucky winner of the binoculars is Mr. Per Stian Reitan of STX OSV.

Rauma-village update
Caring for the environment means more than just saving fuel or cutting emissions. It also means giving an aiding hand to those most in need. With this in mind, Steerprop Ltd. has over the years donated funds to the Rauma-village project of the non-profit Aito Fiilis Ry NGO to help in building houses for those who lost their homes and possessions in decades-long civil war and natural disasters in Sri Lanka.
In thanks for the donations, the Aito Fiilis Ry named a house finished on April 8th 2011 the Steerprop house. A single mother with her seven children have found a new home within its walls.
Steerprop Ltd. is honored to have played a part in building their new home.

BOURBON named "Shipowner of the Year"

Steerprop's co-operative partner, BOURBON, was named “Shipowner of the Year” at this year’s Riviera Maritime Media’s Offshore Support Journal Awards that took place on 16 February at the Annual Offshore Support Journal Conference in London. BOURBON was awarded following the order of its groundbreaking Liberty series of anchor handlers and supply vessels.
Steerprop´s business relationship with BOURBON started when Karl Senner Inc. sold the first Steerprop propulsion systems to BOURBON in 2006. The co-operation between the two companies has continued since and Steerprop has been privileged to supply the propulsion systems for Bourbon´s Liberty series fleet.
“For BOURBON the reliability and performance of the propulsion systems are the most important criteria when selecting the supplier”, says Mr Christian Lefèvre, CEO of BOURBON. “I am very pleased with the availability and performance of the Steerprop azimuth propulsors”, Mr Lefèvre adds.

Steerprop´s co-operation with the Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group continues
Steerprop Ltd. is pleased to announce continuation to a contract with the SinopacificShipbuilding Group in China. The newest contract covers the delivery of azimuth propulsors for a set of ten PSV vessels, ordered by the French shipping company BOURBON. Each of the ten vessels will contain three Steerprop SP10 azimuth propulsion units. The propulsion units will be delivered during spring 2012.
With the newest order included, Steerprop azimuth propulsors have now been contracted to over a hundred vessels ordered by BOURBON and manufactured by the Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group.

The jury considered Steerprop Ltd. a prime example of a Finnish growth and success story on the global market, deriving its success from top expertise and specialization. The jury also listed engineering excellence as Steerprop's key success factor.

Steerprop Announces Large Contract with Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group
Steerprop Ltd. is pleased to announce a new contract with the Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group in China, for the delivery of azimuth propulsors for sixteen ships. This sale is in addition to the four ship sets of propulsors contacted earlier this year to Sinopacific. The deliveries of the propulsors will take place in 2011 and 2012. Each ship will have three Steerprop azimuth propulsors. They will serve as the main propulsion of the AHTS -vessels. These ships will be added to the fleet of the French company and they will operate throughout the world on various offshore industry support tasks.
The contract is a continuation in the fruitful years’ long working relationship between Steerprop and Sinopacific, one of company’s largest co-operation shipyards. With this current order included the same kind of Steerprop Azimuth Propulsors have been contracted to about a hundred ships. Many of these ships are already in service and have acquired a credit for maneuverability, efficiency and reliability among their crews and operators. Due to the advanced design of the vessels and the efficiency of the ducted propellers of Steerprop the ships are also ecologically friendly, consuming less energy and hence contributing to lower emissions.
In addition to the quality of the ships themselves, the co-operation between Steerprop, the shipbuilder and the ship owner has been noted to be particularly productive. The level of co-operation is due in part to the dynamic communication between the three parties and the continuing punctuality with delivery times.
According to Mr. Jarmo Savikurki, Managing Director of Steerprop, this contract is one of the most important sales in the history of Steerprop Ltd. It will use up to 30 % of the company’s capacity and represent work up to 70 labor years for both Steerprop and the network of sub-contractors. Further on, the deal is even more significant as it indicates revival in the shipbuilding industry from the financial crisis of 2008.
Mr. Teuvo Ronkainen, Manager, marketing and sales of Steerprop, states that this contract is a step in the process of Steerprop to enter the largest shipbuilding market in the World.

New website now open
Steerprop has opened the new company website. The goal was to simplify the structure of the website, so that all the vital information concerning the company and the products could be found more easily. Also, the look of the website was freshened up. The all-new Steerprop website was produced in cooperation with advertising agency Briiffi.
